Australian Tradition Remains Crystal Clear

In these days of large-scale supermarket shopping, Crystal Soft Drinks has continued to maintain a dying Australian tradition - home delivery.

And according to Crystal managing director Frank Arts, the company's customer base continues to grow as people become disenchanted with the impersonal and inconvenient aspects of mega-sized retailing outlets.

``A lot of the old-style home-delivery services have disappeared, but we have successfully maintained the tradition for 75 years," Mr Arts said.

``Crystal works hard at building a relationship of trust and reliability with our customers and it would be fair to say that more than 50 per cent of our deliveries are made when no-one is home."

Mr Arts has been in the soft-drink industry 21 years, the last nine years with Crystal.

During that time he has seen Crystal, which now boasts 120 franchise owners across the state, diversify and grow to meet the changing tastes and needs of customers.

From the company's Unanderra depot, more than 2000 dozen bottles are delivered each week to homes as far north as Campbelltown, south to Narooma and west to the Southern Highland townships of Mittagong and Moss Vale.

Mr Arts said Crystal Soft Drinks had the corporate support of Schweppes Cottee's and offered 19 different flavours as well as a range of confectionary and aerated waters.

``Tastes have changed a lot but surprisingly our two biggest products remain cola and lemonade," Mr Arts said.
